Job description:
Provide high level advice on the development, implementation and maintenance of relevant and contemporary Workplace Relations, and employment related policies, strategies and initiatives according to government policy and Tasmanian State Service objectives.
The Workplace Relations Consultant will work as part of a team to provide leadership, support and direction to Government and agencies in managing its work-related obligations between employer and employees by providing support through agreement negotiations, advocacy, and the provision of specialist advice for workplace relations matters impacting on the Tasmanian State Service.

Hours per fortnight

Duties
- Represent the Employer and Agencies on a wide and varied range of workplace relations matters in various formal and informal settings and tribunals.
- Provide and coordinate specialist advice and support on workplace relations matters and processes to Government and agencies.
- Undertake high level research and analysis into industrial and employment matters, including identifying areas of improvement within the State Service and emerging trends in the public and private sectors.
- Identify and develop appropriate responses to issues requiring attention though policy initiatives, negotiation and research to develop options and solutions that are consistent with contemporary and evidence based best practices.
- Liaise, consult and negotiate at senior management level with agencies, unions and employee representative and community organisations.
- Prepare complex and sensitive submissions for consideration and review in the State Service Management Office, including the Public Sector Industrial Relations Committee (PSIRC) and Cabinet Sub-Committee of PSIRC on issues that have significant impact for agencies and Government.
- Lead projects and/or participate in project teams, in relation to identified industrial relations and employment management matters. Prepare correspondence, Cabinet Minutes, reports, briefing papers and submissions for the Director, State Service Management Office and for intergovernmental projects and reviews.

Desirable Requirements
Appropriate Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
