Job description:

Assist in the provision of technical, statutory and policy advice and provide support to all stakeholders and the Department in relation to plumbing legislation, standards and codes. The role of the position includes providing assistance in the provision of advice, information and support in the operations of the Authorisation and Accreditation scheme for plumbing products and systems.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

  • Provide high-level specialist technical, statutory and policy advice to all stakeholders, and the Department on plumbing requirements and standards required under building and other relevant legislation.
  •  Represent the Department in a variety of forums including technical advisory bodies and committees.
  • Provide expert specialist technical advice to stakeholders on a range of current and emerging strategic and technical issues relating to plumbing and associated matters.
  • Provide technical advice on plumbing matters to CBOS Compliance and Dispute Resolution staff and assist stakeholders in the conduct of their statutory functions.
  • Provide support and advice to stakeholders relating to the Australian Building Codes Board in Tasmania.
  • Manage the process relating to the maintenance of the Tasmanian Appendix to the Plumbing Code of Australia and appropriate reference material including changes to technical regulations initiated by other government Agencies or identified by review.
  • Manage and provide technical input to the plumbing product and systems accreditation and authorisation process under the Building Regulations 2016.
  • Undertake research, analysis and provide recommendations on emerging developments that may have technical implication on plumbing matters that may impact the plumbing industry, plumbing standards, codes and legislation.
  • Provide support in the development and facilitation of legislation and technical education strategies for stakeholders.

Desirable Requirements

  • Qualifications and experience in plumbing design.
