Job description:

Responsible to the Director of Public Prosecution for the prosecution, as solicitor and counsel, of allocated matters on behalf of the State of Tasmania.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

  • To prosecute as Solicitor and Counsel routine, complex and critical matters on behalf on behalf of the State of Tasmania, its instrumentalities and Agencies before the Court of Criminal Appeal, Supreme Court, Magistrates Court and Tribunals including serious sexual assault cases.
  • To act as Solicitor and Counsel in such other litigious matters involving the State of Tasmania, its instrumentalities and Agencies before the Supreme Court, Magistrates Court (all divisions) and Tribunals as may be allocated by the Director of Public Prosecutions. 
  • To be responsible to the Director including the supervision of staff and furnishing of critical and complex advice.
  • To participate in performance management and file reviews as directed by the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Essential Requirements

  • Admitted or eligible for admission as a Barrister or Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania.
  • Drivers Licence.

Desirable Requirements

  • A minimum of seven years relevant experience.
