The Sentence Management Unit at the Tasmania Prison service contributes to the effective delivery of services by providing administrative and operational support to the Sentence Management Unit and more broadly, to the Sentence Management Division.

Fixed-term commencing ASAP until 3 October 2025.
This is a day work position working weekdays 73.50 hours per fortnight.

Benefits
Salary of $72,605 - $78,481 per annum. Starting salary negotiable within range subject to experience in a similar role. Annual salary increase within this range in accordance with the Tasmanian State Service Award and Public Service Union Wages Agreement 2022.

Working Environment
Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has prison facilities located at Risdon Vale, Hobart and Launceston in Tasmania. This position is based at Risdon Vale in the Directorate Building. The Risdon Vale site offers a corporate working environment without the hustle and bustle of city centre offices, free on-site parking and access to the on-site staff gym (or head across the road to Risdon Brook Dam for a walk at lunch time).
Duties
- Provide high level administrative support to the Manager, Sentence Management Division, including preparing correspondence, reports, minutes and agendas and maintaining files and registers.
- Responsible for all administrative duties of the Sentence Management Review Panel (SMR), including the preparation of the agenda and all documents required for the classification of prisoners.
- Assist in managing prison capacity and prisoner placement through the delivery of the Tasmania Prison Service’s Vacancy Management Model.
- Assist with sentence calculations, parole calculations and the processing of court orders as required and in accordance with the relevant legislation.
- Assist in the investigation of and resolving in a timely manner, sentence calculation queries and issues raised by the Courts, staff, prisoners/detainees or their legal representatives, including drafting responses.
