Job description:

Provide budget development, management and reporting services support to the Manager Budget Services, to assist in the development, management and reporting of the Department’s budget.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

Provide day to day budget support services within the Department, including:

  • Working with outputs to develop and maintain annual budgets.
  • Undertake zero based budget reviews.
  • Ensure budget data and reporting are up to date and prepare budget related journals to correct errors.
  • Support the development of the Department’s State Budget activities, including community consultation submissions, output budget submissions and drafting budget paper contributions.
  • Analyse and monitor the status of the Department’s budget.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategies, policies, guidelines, risk management and improvements relevant to the effective and efficient management of the Department’s budget.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Department’s budget information contained within the Treasury Budget Management and Public Account Cash Management Systems.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with outputs on financial management matters taking into account varying business needs within the Agency.
  • Provide assistance on projects with significant budgeting or reporting implications and the delivery of other Finance Branch services as required.
  • Any other tasks and responsibilities allocated by the Manager Budget Services.

Desirable Requirements

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline with eligibility for membership of CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants or other professional accounting body.
