Job description:
The Senior Spatial and Database Technician provides specialist expertise, advice, and services to ensure that the Asset Management Branch transport asset spatial data is sourced, managed, and maintained so it can be accessed by relevant stakeholders. The position will undertake a high level of database management, and analysis and where required produce a range of mapping and spatial outputs. The position will work closely with a team of professionals that includes analysts and spatial database developers.

Duties
- Provide specialist expertise to support the integration, high-end manipulation, and analysis of transport asset data within a relational database and GIS software.
- Produce high-quality maps and reports and actively contribute to the development and delivery of mapping and spatial projects.
- Identify opportunities and lead the development of Asset Management GIS and web mapping environments.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal staff and representatives of key agencies, including other stakeholders to enhance the knowledge base of externally sourced data, collection programs, and information product developments.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of data collection and management programs to ensure that key data and spatial information are of the right quality and available to relevant internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Continue to develop the established data policies, standards, and data management procedures to ensure that best practice is used, including developing and maintaining spatial database/s and GIS software and hardware to ensure their efficient and effective operation.
- Participate in project and program activities within the Asset Management Branch to ensure strategic identification of spatial and data analysis opportunities.
- Collaborate with the State Growth Spatial Services Group and work to ensure a fully integrated strategic spatial analysis service is available to support the Asset Management Branch.
- Provide technical direction, supervision, and training to Data and Analysis staff in relation to the work program.
Desirable Requirements
- Degree qualification or higher qualification in one or more of the following areas: spatial data integration, data analysis, and mapping using ArcGIS (or other GIS programs) or other relevant discipline or equivalent minimum 4 years relevant experience with a specialisation in one of these areas.
- Experience in ESRI ArcGIS Roads and Highways
- Experience in contemporary database integration tools such as FME, and Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services
- Experience in Relational Database Design and Administration
- Working experience in Agile development practices.
