Job description:

To ensure compliance with the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 and other regulatory requirements by participants in the Tasmanian workers compensation scheme. This role involves monitoring compliance by insurers, self-insurers and other stakeholders, investigating complaints, addressing non-compliance issues, and providing education and guidance to participants to ensure the scheme operates fairly, efficiently, and transparently.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (the Act) and other regulatory requirements by conducting assessments, audits and investigations.
  • Lead, coordinate and perform audits of workers compensation claims and injury management systems of licensed insurers, self-insurers and Tasmania State Service agencies to ensure compliance with the Act and other regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate complaints from workers, employers, insurers, and other stakeholders regarding potential violations of the Act and other regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare timely and comprehensive reports on compliance activities, with clear findings, including recommendations for corrective actions, if necessary.
  • Monitor trends in complaints and audit findings to identify systemic issues, providing recommendations for process improvements or corrective measures to enable continuous improvement of the workers compensation claims and injury management systems of stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and review of internal WorkSafe Tasmania and WorkCover Board Tasmania policies and procedures aimed at improving compliance.
  • Promote an understanding of workers compensation and injury management by developing relationships with stakeholders, including insurers, employers and workers and provide guidance and support in relation to compliance matters.
