Job description:

As a member of the Human Resources (HR) Senior Leadership Group, provide authoritative generalist HR consultancy and advisory services on complex people matters across the Department. The Deputy Director undertakes specialist projects to support the Agency Executive. These are novel and complex people issues that require tact, high level negotiation skills and subject matter expertise. The Deputy Director works as a conduit between Agency Outputs and entities covered by Service Level Agreements, and the broader HR team to ensure that the Agency delivers an effective people service. The Deputy Director provides consultancy and advisory services to Departmental managers and takes a lead role in coaching, advising, and facilitating effective delivery and implementation of HR strategy, policy, and frameworks.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

  • Provide specialist advice to Agency Executive and other senior leaders across the Department on novel and complex HR matters requiring direct intervention with tact, high level negotiation skills and subject matter expertise.
  • Lead and implement whole of government workforce programs including providing authoritative advice to managers to help improve performance, productivity, and culture across the Agency.
  • Build and maintain effective strategic partnering relationships with Executives, Senior Managers and Team Leaders to gain insights into their needs, challenges, and opportunities and to offer tailored solutions accordingly.
  • Work collaboratively with other HR teams to ensure the delivery of services aligned to business needs.
  • Effectively provide support to other senior HR managers and teams within HR including assisting to maintain a positive team culture and individual engagement and growth, alongside positive work-related outcomes.
  • Support the Director Human Resources and act in the role where required.
  • Perform other assigned duties within the knowledge, skills and experience expected at the classification level.

Desirable Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline.
