Job description:

As a Delegate of the Commissioner of State Revenue (Commissioner), you will manage and independently determine taxpayer objections to decisions and/or assessments issued by the Commissioner. The position also manages the Commissioner’s input into any subsequent Court review or appeal proceedings.

We are seeking a Principal Legal Advisor to join the team.  You will play a critical part in supporting the State Revenue Office by managing and independently determining taxpayer objections to decisions and/or assessments for the Commissioner of State Revenue.

About You

  • you are a self-starter and thrive working in an environment with competing priorities;
  • you will have a legal interpretation background focusing on advice relating to legislation and taxation matters;
  • you enjoy researching and investigating the intricacies of legislation;  
  • you will have high level stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate across all levels with proven negotiation skills; and
  • highly desirable that you have completed or partial completed a relevant tertiary or industry qualifications, and/or professional affiliation.

About the Branch 

The Revenue branch manages collection of taxation for the State. The branch administers a number of grants, determines taxation objections and ensures that taxpayers are compliant with State taxation and grant legislation.

Hours per fortnight

Up to 73.5 - hours flexible - talk to us about how this could work for you. We are open to considering a range of flexible work options including part-time hours.
