Job description:
The Coordinator, Payroll Operations plays a pivotal role in overseeing the delivery of payroll services within the Department. Operating within a high-volume, complex environment, the role ensures payroll accuracy, compliance, and efficiency while supporting staff development and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The Coordinator acts as a key conduit between operational staff and senior management, providing expert advice, resolving escalated issues, and driving enhancements to systems and processes.

Duties
- Oversee the daily operations of payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with legislative, industrial, and departmental requirements.
- Supervise and support payroll officers and senior payroll staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture through coaching, guidance, and performance monitoring.
- Contribute to the development, testing, and implementation of system upgrades and process enhancements, working closely with IT, HR, and external vendors.
- Lead internal audits and ensure robust controls are in place to maintain data integrity and compliance with audit and regulatory standards.
- Prepare and deliver payroll reports, data insights, and recommendations to senior management to support decision-making and strategic planning
- Assist in the development and implementation of payroll related policies, procedures, and training materials to ensure consistency and compliance across the team.
