Job description:

Effectively assist in the administration of the risk-based licensing schemes in accordance with legislation and through policies and procedures of the Work with Vulnerable People Unit.

Period of Appointment

ASAP until 21 September 2027.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

  • To assist in the effective registration of persons requiring registration under Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) legislative framework. 
  • Provide advice on the risks associated with identified applicants and provide advice and detailed guidance to Assessment Officers undertaking the first level of risk assessment
  • The administration of processes and procedures within the unit and the maintenance of the RWVP Register.
  • The provision of assessment support to the Manager of the Screening Unit and the Assistant Director, Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.
  • Interpretation and administration of the RWVP legislative framework.
  • Coordinate and assist in the preparation and interpretation of the reporting obligations of the unit.
  • Provide advice into determinations, amendments to legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance and review of publications, documents and website content.
  • Participate as appropriate in public consultation processes, including providing information on how the registration process works.
  • To provide support and advice to the Manager and Assistant Director and to undertake other duties as required.

  • A Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People

The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Pre-employment (National Police Record) checks for: Arson and fire setting, violent crimes and crimes against the person, sex-related offences, drug and alcohol related offences, crimes involving dishonesty, deception and/or conspiracy, making false declarations, malicious damage and destruction to property, serious traffic offences, crimes against public order or relating to the Administration of Law and Justice, Executive or the Legislative Power.
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment.
  3. Identification check.
