Job description:
The Governance & Compliance Officer is responsible for providing oversight, coordination, and advice for a range of organisational governance, compliance, and policy requirements.
The Governance & Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring PAHSMA operates within legal, ethical and regulatory frameworks, while supporting the organisation’s strategic objectives. The position provides advice and secretariat support to the Chief Financial Officer and the Audit, Risk and Governance Committee (ARGC). The role spans governance, compliance, risk management and stakeholder engagement to ensure PAHSMA demonstrates strong corporate accountability and transparency.

Duties
- Provide advice on governance frameworks, policies, charters and delegations of authority, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and recommending improvements to strengthen organisational accountability.
- Prepare research, analysis, reports and policy documents, including Annual Reports, Corporate Plans and Statements of Corporate Intent, ensuring alignment with statutory requirements and corporate objectives.
- Provide secretariat support to the CFO and ARGC, including scheduling of meetings, agendas, minutes and follow-up of actions and ensuring recommendations and decisions are tracked and implemented effectively.
- Monitor organisational compliance with legal, regulatory and policy obligations, maintain the central register of policies, and coordinate internal audits and implementation of recommendations, providing assurance to the CFO and Board on compliance status and emerging risks.
- Support the development and maintenance of the enterprise risk management framework, including risk registers, control assessments and risk reporting to senior stakeholders, and provide options and recommendations for addressing significant organisational risks.
- Manage ministerial and government communications, prepare briefs and reports for Board consideration, and act as the first point of contact for PID and RTI requests, ensuring matters are managed with discretion, integrity and timeliness.
- Liaise with regulators, auditors, shareholder ministers and other external stakeholders on governance and compliance matters, representing PAHSMA with professionalism and authority.
- Deliver compliance and ethics training programs and work collaboratively across the organisation to embed best practice, advising managers on the application of governance and compliance obligations.
- Promote a culture of confidentiality, integrity, transparency and accountability, and contribute to organisational planning aligned with PAHSMA’s strategic objectives, providing guidance on how governance and compliance requirements integrate with business operations.
- Maintain professionalism, ensure timely follow-up of outstanding matters, and undertake other duties consistent with the scope of the role, including contributing advice to organisational projects where governance, compliance or risk expertise is required.

Desirable Requirements
- Relevant Tertiary Qualifications: eg Business Management.
