The role involves leading a team that delivers regulatory services under liquor and gaming legislation. The Team Leader role involves coordinating workloads, monitoring performance, and supporting operational priorities. It includes providing clear advice, interpreting complex legislation, authorising applications, and identifying risks and trends to inform improvements. Importantly, the Team Leader fosters a collaborative team culture, guides staff development, and ensures effective use of systems.

  • Leads and motivates a high-performing team, ensuring resources and workloads align with strategic priorities.
  • Communicates complex regulatory concepts clearly, enabling confident decision-making and stakeholder engagement.
  • Drives operational excellence by identifying risks and determining applicable applications.
  • Supports staff development through training, mentoring, to build capability and performance.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement by analysing trends, shaping policy, and enhancing regulatory systems.

About You

Treasury is looking for a Team Leader to join our Liquor and Gaming Branch to lead a high-performing team located in Hobart and Launceston that delivers effective and efficient outcomes in relation to the Liquor Licensing Act 1990 and the Gaming Control Act 1990.

About the Branch

The Liquor and Gaming Branch supports the Commissioner for Licensing and the Tasmanian Liquor and Gaming Commission in their regulatory functions under the Liquor Licensing Act 1990 and the Gaming Control Act 1993. The branch also provides advice to government on liquor and gaming policy, collects gaming taxes and forecasts revenue for the State Budget.

Hours per fortnight

Up to 73.5 - hours flexible - talk to us about how this could work for you. We are open to considering a range of flexible work options including part time hours.
