Job description:

Provide customer focused support services for the Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management (DPFEM) Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems, infrastructure and applications.

Duties

  • Using the Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) principles, provide high quality and timely service to Technology and Innovation customers.
  • Provide level 1 and 2 support by:
  • Providing client support including handling initial contact, triaging, prioritising, updating, and either solving or correctly routing tickets to the appropriate resolver groups.
  • Undertaking installation, maintenance, technical support and administration for client devices and ICT infrastructure including identifying root cause, researching solutions and applying resolutions.
  • Providing application support, system administration, installation, and patch management of the computer operating environment and applications.
  • Investigate and resolve incidents, problems and service requests ensuring that tickets are handled based on prioritisation and within Service Level Agreements (SLAs) whilst adhering to the Departmental polices and guidelines.
  • Build successful working relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and external specialists to create effective solutions and outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain end-user guides, technical work instructions, build documents, procedures and other Technology and Innovation records.  Ensure that these documents are available in the relevant knowledge base, are updated and ensure that they are adhered too.
  • Work on projects to ensure their delivery within time and budget constraints.
  • Actively participate in developing and maintaining safe work practices and conditions.

Essential Requirements

Pre-Employment Checks 

The Head of the State Service has determined that a person nominated for appointment to this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer. Any relevant serious criminal offence or repeated serious offences over any period, which are not mitigated by additional information, may provide grounds for declining an application for appointment. Such offences would include, but are not limited to:

  • Arson and fire setting;
  • Sexual offences;
  • Dishonesty (e.g. theft, burglary, breaking and entering, fraud);
  • Deception (e.g. obtaining an advantage by deception);
  • Making false declarations;
  • Violent crimes and crimes against the person;
  • Malicious damage and destruction to property
  • Trafficking of narcotic substance;
  • False alarm raising. 

Desirable Requirements

  • Professional ICT knowledge gained through satisfactory completion of a relevant course of study at a tertiary institution
  • Relevant Industry certifications particularly in the Microsoft Technologies
  • Experience in customer support
  • Experience in Microsoft Windows desktop Android and iOS
  • Experience in basic network troubleshooting and patching
  • Experience in delivering excellent customer service
  • Experience working in an environment that utilises Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) principles
  • Experience and certification in ITIL
  • Current driver’s licence
