This is a permanent day work position working 73.50 hours per fortnight.

Benefits
Salary of $129,302 to $136,089 pa. Starting salary negotiable within range subject to experience in a similar role. Annual salary increases within this range in accordance with the Tasmanian State Service Award and Public Sector Union Wages Agreement.

Working Environment
Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has prison facilities located at Risdon Vale, Hobart and Launceston in Tasmania. This position is based at Risdon Vale. The Risdon Vale site offers a corporate working environment without the hustle and bustle of city centre offices, free on-site parking and access to the on-site staff gym (or head across the road to Risdon Brook Dam for a walk at lunch time).
Duties
- Provide leadership, direction and management of the development, delivery, implementation and review of strategic policies and projects that support the achievement of the Department’s strategic direction and priorities.
- Lead and manage the delivery of research and analysis of complex issues, contemporary correctional practices and the development of recommendations, solutions and advice.
- Provide high level authoritative advice and information to support decision making to improve rehabilitative outcomes.
- Lead the delivery of a range of complex and professionally written documents including ministerial briefings, executive papers, reports, project plans and communications material.
- Develop and facilitate contemporary and innovative strategies to engage key stakeholders across varying contexts, identifying obstacles, resolving differences, and cultivating commitment to secure Departmental improvement and change.
- Represent the Department on inter-departmental committees and build durable networks to facilitate cross-agency collaboration, ensuring the successful implementation of whole-of-government priorities while fostering an environment of innovation and change.
- Lead the tracking, monitoring and implementation of recommendations made to the TPS by external and regulatory agencies.
- Lead and mentor the policy team to build capability and performance, while effectively managing human, financial, and physical resources to ensure the delivery of strategic projects.
