Job description:

This position contributes to the efficient and effective operation of the Public Trustee by assisting the Corporate Solicitor to manage the delivery of legal services to the Board, Chief Executive Officer, clients and staff of the Public Trustee.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Major Functions

  1. Taking instructions from clients concerning their estate planning specific to their unique circumstances and preferences.
  2. Preparing, reviewing, and updating legal documents such as wills, powers of attorney and other estate planning documents.
  3. Working collaboratively with estate planners within the legal team to ensure high-quality service.
  4. Coordinating and performing administrative tasks related to estate planning, such as document management, filing, and correspondence with clients and other relevant parties.
  5. Facilitating smooth and timely client appointments, including scheduling, preparation of necessary materials, and follow-ups.

Essential Requirements

Admission or qualification and entitlement to admission as a Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania.

Pre-employment Requirements

The Head of State Service has determined that the person nominated for this vacancy is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer.

The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Pre-employment (National Police Record) checks for: Arson and fire setting, violent crimes and crimes against the person, sex-related offences, drug and alcohol related offences, crimes involving dishonesty, deception and/or conspiracy, making false declarations, malicious damage and destruction to property, serious traffic offences, crimes against public order or relating to the Administration of Law and Justice, Executive or the Legislative Power.
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment.
  3. Identification check.
