Job description:

Provide financial and accounting policy advice related to accrual and cash accounting for the Department’s financial operations and meet the Department’s reporting obligations. Research, analyse and identify solutions to complex accounting and financial management issues, using your extensive knowledge of accounting and financial management policy, frameworks and trends.
  • Lead a highly skilled, collaborative and professional team, delivering the financial operation and reporting obligations for the Department.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and provide financial management advice and support to the Treasurer and inner Government agencies.

About You

We are looking for a Specialist Financial Analyst to join our Government Finance and Accounting Branch. You will lead and manage the Financial Reporting team to provide financial and accounting policy advice related to the Departments cash and accrual financial operations and deliver financial reporting operations.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Department’s contemporary financial management practices by researching, analysing and identifying solutions to complex accounting and financial management issues, using critical thinking and extensive accounting knowledge of accounting and financial management policy, frameworks and trends.

You will be a motivated and supportive leader of the Team with a strong financial accounting background, knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and contemporary financial management practices. You will remain abreast of emerging trends and develop options and recommendations to address accounting and financial issues as they arise.

This role suits someone who has experience in managing a small team to deliver financial outcomes while managing competing priorities and meeting internal and legislative deadlines.

About the Branch

The Government Finance and Accounting Branch monitors and reports on finances at both an agency and whole-of-government level and develops and implements financial management policy advice for the General Government Sector.

Hours per fortnight

Up to 73.5 - hours flexible - talk to us about how this could work for you. We are open to considering a range of flexible work options including part time hours.
