About You

Treasury is looking for a Principal Economic Modeller and Policy Advisor to join our Economic Policy Branch to undertake economic modelling and policy advice tasks. This includes Treasury’s Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) and other economic modelling functions, policy analysis supported by detailed economic research, and preparing advice that contributes towards economic policy decision making.

This is an exciting opportunity to apply research, advanced economic modelling and policy analysis to evaluate the impacts of major projects and policy proposals, and shape policies that support the wellbeing of Tasmanians.

You will be working as part of a small, dedicated and professional team. Your success requires initiative, the ability to navigate complex challenges, develop practical solutions, and clearly communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

This role suits someone who has strong economic analysis and modelling skills (or the ability to develop them quickly), a desire to grow your capability and judgement, and the willingness to take on varied analytical tasks.

This position may interest people who are looking for positions called policy advisor, policy officer, economist or economic analyst.

We welcome applications from a diverse range of applicants and provide flexible, hybrid working options in most roles. We want our employees to reach their full potential which is why we make reasonable adjustments to our recruitment process to enable applicants with disability, illness and injury to fully participate. Please notify us if you require any support or adjustments during the recruitment process to enable your full participation.
