Job description:

The position contributes to the delivery of a family violence intervention program and intensive case management within Tasmania Prison Service.

The Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has an exciting opportunity for the right person, to contributes to the delivery of a family violence intervention program and intensive case management within Tasmania Prison Service.

Details of Appointment

Fixed-term commencing as soon as possible to 29 September 2028.

This is a day work position working 73.50 hours per fortnight. Flexible working arrangements may be considered.

Benefits

Salary of $99,482 to $104,352 pa. Starting salary negotiable within range subject to experience in a similar role. Annual salary increase within this range in accordance with the Tasmanian State Service Award and Public Service Union Wages Agreement.

Working Environment

Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has prison facilities located at Risdon Vale, Hobart and Launceston in Tasmania. This position is based at Risdon Vale. 

The Risdon Vale site offers a corporate working environment without the hustle and bustle of city centre offices, free on-site parking and access to the on-site staff gym (or head across the road to Risdon Brook Dam for a walk at lunch time). 

Duties

  • Undertake assessment and processing of incoming referrals to determine program suitability and liaise with remandees/offenders on referral outcomes.
  • Co-facilitate the delivery of group sessions of non-criminogenic family violence interventions as required
  • Maintain oversight of and assist in developing comprehensive case plans as required.
  • Provide case management support for complex/high risk participants for up to 12 months to those subject to family violence offences in the care of the Tasmania Prison Service, and during their transition into the community.
  • Provide individualised 1:1 support for complex/high risk participants in working to address specific criminogenic and non-criminogenic risk factors, dynamics and individual drivers that lead to criminal justice engagement for family violence behaviours.
  • Provide coordination, support, advice, and guidance on the day-to-day operations of the Family Violence Interventions Officers, including allocations of workload distributions under consultation with the Specialist Clinician Family Violence.
  • Liaise with TPS staff, external stakeholders, and work collaboratively with victim-survivor support organisations in carrying out duties.
  • Maintain case notes, records, and administrative information and prepare formal family violence risk assessments to determine ongoing risk management strategies, and any other reports required in accordance with case management and program standards.
  • Provide operational supervision to Family Violence Interventions Officers.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development including training, and clinical supervision.

Essential Requirements*

Current drivers’ licence.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience working within the Family Violence sector with those who have lived experienced of, or have perpetrated, family violence.
  • Satisfactory completion of an appropriate course of study at a recognised tertiary institution.
