Details of Appointment
This is a permanent position, 73.50 hours per fortnight. This is a day work position working weekdays. We are a diverse and inclusive workplace and understand the importance of flexible working arrangements - talk to us about how this could work for you.

Benefits
Salary of $140,703 to $150,200 pa. Starting salary negotiable within range subject to experience in a similar role. Annual salary increases within this range in accordance with the Tasmanian State Service Award and Public Sector Union Wages Agreement.

Working Environment
Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has prison facilities located at Risdon Vale, Hobart and Launceston in Tasmania. This position is based at Risdon Vale. The Risdon Vale site offers a corporate working environment without the hustle and bustle of city centre offices, free on-site parking and access to the on-site staff gym (or head across the road to Risdon Brook Dam for a walk at lunch time).
Duties
- Develop and implement appropriate business plans for both prison Industries and Facility management ensuring an efficient and effective service is delivered.
- Develop and implement strategies and policies, guidelines and procedures that best achieve business goals and maximise prisoner employment opportunities including within the maintenance of all TPS facilities.
- Continue to explore and research employment opportunities for prisoners that will enhance their ability to secure work upon release, maintain a varied and full group of activities for prisoners that provide value for money for TPS.
- Manage the financial, physical and human resources within Industries and Facilities management ensuring a high standard of accountability and performance at all times.
- Proactively market the services of Industries and Facilities management including liaising with potential and current customers and suppliers state-wide and interstate including the private sector.
- Ensure appropriate security and WHS standards are maintained for all staff and prisoners within your areas of responsibility.
- Adopt and maintain a collaborative and multi-disciplinary approach with all other areas of TPS ensuring effective consultation and engagement is maintained.
- Provide appropriate contributions and support to all committee and consultative groups.
- Contribute effectively as a member of the Senior Management group for TPS providing direction, advice and leadership on all Industries and Facilities management matters.
- The incumbent can expect periodically to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying jobs at this classification level.

Desirable Requirements
- Satisfactory completion of an appropriate course of study at a recognised tertiary institution.
