
About the role
The purpose of the role is to provide high level specialist strategic and policy advice to the General Manager (Marine Resources) and support through the delivery of efficient and effective fisheries compliance, licensing and monitoring processes, operations and systems. Maintain close and effective liaison with the Tasmanian Marine Police in the delivery of fisheries for compliance and enforcement.
As a delegate, undertake the relevant statutory functions and exercise the powers of the Minister or Secretary pursuant to the provisions of the Living Marine Resources Management Act 1995 and the Marine Farming Planning Act 1995 and the subordinate legislation.
Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).
Period of appointment
2 years or until the return of the substantive, whichever is earliest.
Pre-employment requirements
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer. The following check are to be conducted.
- Conviction Check
- Crimes of violence
- Sex related offences
- Serious drug offences
- Crimes involving dishonesty (e.g. theft, burglary, breaking and entering, fraud).
Desirable requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstration of an equivalent level of skills together with experience at a management level.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Law and/or Policing or demonstration of an equivalent high level of compliance skills with experience at management level.
- AIIMS or other response training.
- A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
