Job description:
The redevelopment of Macquarie Point is an urban renewal project in central Hobart, which will see a former industrial site revitalised into an exciting mixed-use precinct incorporating a multipurpose stadium.
This role is responsible for planning and delivering digital communications and events that support the Macquarie Point Development Corporation’s strategic objectives.
Working as part of the Communications team, you will provide specialist leadership in the development and delivery of website, social media and visual content, alongside the planning and delivery of events and activations. All activity will align with broader communications strategies and project objectives, ensuring clear, consistent and accessible information for the community and stakeholders.
The role requires a skilled and delivery-focused communications specialist who can manage and integrate multiple channels and outputs, apply professional judgement and contribute specialist input to strategic planning, evaluation and improvement of
communications and engagement approaches.
Macquarie Point is one of Tasmania’s most significant urban renewal precincts — a once‑in‑a‑generation opportunity to shape a vibrant, world‑class destination on the Hobart waterfront. With the Mac Point Multipurpose Stadium as a catalyst project, the site is entering an exciting phase of complex planning, development and transformation.
We are seeking a skilled Digital Communications and Events Officer to play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of strategic projects that will define the future of this landmark precinct.
About the Role
As a member of the Corporation, you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of digital communications and events that contribute to the long‑term vision for Macquarie Point.
You will:
- Lead and manage the Corporation’s digital communications function, determining content, priorities and appropriate delivery options.
- Manage and continuously improve the Corporation’s website content and structure.
- Develop and deliver the Corporation’s program of events and stakeholder engagements.
- Work closely with the project team to translate technical information into clear public facing content and support delivery of key stakeholder communications.
What You’ll Bring
We are looking for someone with:
- Demonstrated experience in managing digital communications functions, including determining content and managing multiple digital platforms.
- Experience in planning and delivery of events from small stakeholder sessions to larger public or industry events.
- Strong written and visual planning skills with ability to interpret complex information to create clear content for a range of audiences.
- Demonstrated experience using information management systems, social media platforms and basic digital design tools.
- Demonstrated capacity to independently plan, prioritise and deliver competing work programs within set timeframes, exercising initiative and well-developed communication skills to work collaboratively across teams and external partners.
Desirable Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, digital or website design or related discipline.
- Experience with analytics tools and performance reporting.
- Graphic design or video editing capability.
- Experience planning and delivering digital communications in a professional environment.
