Job description:

Work with waste facility operators to ensure waste and resource recovery obligations are met and help make Tasmania a place where nothing is wasted.

About the role

The Operations Officer plays a key role in delivering Tasmania’s resource management and regulatory framework through oversight of the landfill levy and statewide data collection. Working closely with waste facility operators, this role supports compliance and alignment with the Waste and Resource Recovery Act 2022.

In this role, you will:

  • Work directly with facility operators to provide clear, practical advice on legislative requirements and compliance.
  • Contribute to improved environmental outcomes through effective regulation and oversight of waste management practices.
  • Apply legislative requirements through site inspections, audits and monitoring activities.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships to support sustainable resource management outcomes.
  • Analyse and support data collection and reporting to inform decision-making and operational practices.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).

Desirable requirements

  • A post-secondary qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
