About the role
As a Ranger, you will work closely with Aboriginal communities to help look after Mount Field and Southwest National Park. These parks are part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area (TWWHA).
You will work on Country and help plan and carry out jobs like fixing and building walking tracks and maintaining park facilities. You will also talk with visitors and community members, giving them information and help about how the parks are used and cared for.
This role is based at one of Tasmania’s oldest national parks and the gateway to the Western Arthurs. You will work in a stunning natural setting with waterfalls, tall forests, alpine plants, and glacial lakes.
This role helps make sure Tasmanian Aboriginal culture stays at the heart of everything we do, and that Aboriginal heritage is protected for future generations.
Hours per fortnight
76.0 hours per fortnight (minimum 60.8 hours, by negotiation).
Essential requirements
- Aboriginality. The Head of the State Service has determined that this is an Aboriginal identified position and that the person nominated for this position is to meet the Tasmanian Government’s eligibility requirements in accordance with Employment Direction No. 10 – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment in the State Service before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer.
Desirable requirements
- A Workplace Level 2 First Aid Certificate.
- Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management or equivalent qualifications.
