Job description:

Provide scientific advice on interesting and varied challenges relating to environmental noise and vibration impacts

About the role

As the Senior Scientific Officer (Noise), you will be responsible for providing specialist and technical advice on industrial noise emissions, supporting the assessment and regulation of activities regulated by the Environment Protection Authority (EPA).

  • Undertake detailed analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of noise and vibration studies and investigations.
  • Design and undertake monitoring and modelling activities.
  • Perform in-depth reviews and evaluations to assess the scientific merit of externally prepared reports.

Hours per fortnight

36.75 hours.

Essential requirements

  • A degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent, relevant to the professional duties to be undertaken, as provided by a university.
  • Eligible for membership of the Australian Acoustical Society at grade Associate (AAAS) or Member (MAAS).

Desirable requirements

  • A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
  • Experience in light pollution would be highly regarded.

Special Employment Conditions

  • Some intrastate travel may be required.
