Job description:

To provide high level policy support to the TPS Executive Leadership Team by leading a small team to develop and implement policy priorities across the TPS, including the development and implementation of violence reduction and substance abuse strategies.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

  • Assist with the coordination, implementation planning and monitoring of policy across the TPS, including oversight of daily ministerial and stakeholder requests.
  • Provide management and oversight of a small team of policy officers, managing conflicting priorities and ensuring priorities are in line with agreed strategic goals.
  • Contribute to policy development and research best practice standards for strategic policy priorities for the TPS including substance abuse and violence reduction.
  • Maintain and update communication strategies to provide frontline staff with timely, high quality information to support effective workplace management.
  • Attendance at Corrective Services Administrators’ Council (CSAC) meetings, and provide support to national policy committees where required.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, submissions and briefings in response to managerial requests and operational matters as directed by the TPS Executive Leadership Team.
  • The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying jobs at this classification level.

Desirable Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of an appropriate course of study at a recognised tertiary institution.

  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment.
