Job description:

The Business Analyst provides high level advice and expertise in business analysis, business process reengineering and project management to inform and support project and/or business outcomes on behalf of the Office of the Chief Information and Technology Officer (CITO).

Duties

  • Analyse complex and often ambiguous business scenarios to uncover underlying issues, opportunities and organisational impacts, to provide well-founded business or technical recommendations for improvement that align with business objectives.
  • Elicit business requirements using various methods including interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task, and workflow analysis.
  • Analyse existing processes and systems for issues and opportunities for improvement, and design and document the current and future state in accordance with business strategy, risk and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct process mapping, research, feasibility, and options analysis to develop recommendations.
  • Initiate, manage or support projects on behalf of stakeholders, preparing documentation in a manner that facilitates ease of handover.
  • Prepare documentation suitable for a diverse audience including business requirements, business cases, project initiation and management plans, procurement and contract artefacts, schedules, and change management outputs, reports, minutes and briefing notes.
  • Undertake discrete projects and/or pieces of work for the CITO in relation to business process re-engineering, systems enhancement, financial modelling, project support and change management.
  • The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.

Any relevant serious criminal offence or repeated serious offences over any period, which are not mitigated by additional information, may provide grounds for declining an application for appointment.   • Dishonesty (e.g. theft, burglary, breaking and entering, fraud);
  • Deception (e.g. obtaining an advantage by deception);
  • Making false declarations;
  • Violent crimes and crimes against the person;
  • Malicious damage and destruction to property
  • Trafficking of narcotic substance;
  • False alarm raising.
