Job description:

• Provide strategic advice to the General Manager (Agriculture and Water) on issues and opportunities related to the ensuring sustainable management of Tasmania’s freshwater resources; • Lead the identification, development and implementation of a strategies, systems, projects and programs that will result in improved efficiency, effectiveness and productivity for the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Business Unit; and • Provide leadership to Branch Managers to ensure the delivery of business activities is managed effectively and efficiently, in line with government policy, legislative requirements and contemporary management principles.

The role of Director (Water) is an exciting opportunity to provide strategic leadership in the sustainable management of Tasmania’s freshwater resources and to shape policy, programs and regulatory frameworks that support long-term environmental, economic and community outcomes.

This role operates at a senior executive level, with broad responsibility for strategy, policy, program delivery and organisational performance across multiple water-related functions.

Key focus areas include:

  • Strategic leadership of water policy, planning, compliance, monitoring and assessment functions;
  • Delivery of high-level advice to senior executives and Government on complex water resource issues;
  • Leading major programs and initiatives to improve organisational performance and support sustainable water outcomes;
  • Oversight of regulatory frameworks, licensing, compliance and risk management; and
  • Building strong partnerships across government, industry, stakeholders and the community

To succeed in this role, you will be an accomplished and respected senior leader with demonstrated experience operating in complex environments and delivering strategic outcomes.
