
About the role
As a Visitor Services Officer based in Triabunna, the gateway to Maria Island National Park, you will enjoy a diverse role combining customer service, administration, tourism operations, retail sales, visitor engagement and interpretive activities.
You will help create memorable visitor experiences by providing information and advice on the park's natural and cultural values, recreational opportunities, safety, and Leave No Trace principles.
Working as part of the Parks and Wildlife Service team, you will contribute to the management and visitor experience of Maria Island National Park and surrounding parks and reserves, which are known for their natural values, wildlife, walking opportunities and cultural heritage.
We have two fixed-term part-time positions available, working 20 and 24 hours per week, from November 2026 to April 2027.
Our ideal candidate
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage with visitors from a range of backgrounds.
- Experience delivering high-quality customer service and working under pressure.
- Sound administrative, cash handling and retail skills, with the ability to use booking and point-of-sale systems.
- An interest in sharing information about parks, wildlife, recreational opportunities and conservation.
- A team player who contributes positively to a small operational team.
- Demonstrated initiative and the ability to make sound decisions to resolve issues and achieve outcomes.
