About the role

In this role you will lead a specialist team responsible for the governance, maintenance and continuous improvement of foundational spatial datasets and the Register of Place Names Tasmania.

This is a permanent position, working 73.50 hours per fortnight (or a minimum of 58.8 hours by negotiation).

As Program Leader, you will:

• Lead Tasmania's spatial data programs, ensuring high-quality outcomes that support government, industry and community needs.
• Oversee the governance, maintenance and enhancement of key spatial data sets, including cadastral, address, transport, property and administrative datasets.
• Manage people, projects and resources to deliver reliable, accurate and timely spatial data services.
• Provide strategic leadership and expert advice on the State’s foundational datasets.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement through the optimisation of data management processes, systems and workflows.
• Build and maintain productive relationships across government, industry and the public to support collaboration, data sharing and service excellence.

Our ideal candidate has

• Extensive experience managing and developing foundational geospatial datasets, supported by strong technical expertise in GIS technologies, particularly ESRI ArcGIS products and FME.
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire, develop and lead a high-performing team in a complex and evolving technical environment.
• Highly developed communication, consultation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build productive relationships and influence outcomes across diverse audiences.
• Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate complex work programs and deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Qualifications in Spatial Sciences, Applied Science or a related discipline.
