Applications for permanent employment commencing Term 4, 2024 or Term 1, 2025 are now open! 

This is a specific recruitment process for Teachers graduating from University in 2024.

  1. Apply! 

As an applicant you must: 

  • complete the online application form to provide personal details, select areas of expertise, placement/location preferences; 

  • submit a two-page response to the four selection criteria that details your Teaching skills, knowledge and experience; 

  • upload a resume that contains personal details, relevant study and work history; and 

  • list two teaching related referees who can comment on your suitability for the role of a Teacher. The two nominated referees must be well qualified to comment on your teaching/professional experience (i.e. professional experience supervisor(s) or Principal from location of employment).

  • Be either an Australian citizen, a permanent resident of Australia, a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand passport or hold a current visa that allows you to work within Australia and be able to meet the following essential requirements prior to commencement date

  • Qualifications as established by the Tasmanian Industrial Commission in the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award 2005. 

  • Current provisional registration granted by the Teachers Registration Board (Tasmania) in accordance with the provisions of the Teachers Registration Act 2000.  

  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status - Employee/Volunteer). 

Commencement Date:  Term 4, 2024 (14 October 2024) or Term 1, 2025. Schools commence on Monday 3 February and colleges on Tuesday 28 January 2025. 

Salary range: $80,416 to $114,882 per annum (pro rata) + 11% superannuation (plus any allowances and payments payable if at an isolated location) 

Hours: Up to 70 hours per fortnight 

Leave: 11.4 weeks per year

Instructional load for a full-time teacher is 42 hours per fortnight for Primary School or 40 hours per fortnight for Secondary Schools

Essential Requirements

You must be able to meet the essential requirements prior to commencement date:

  • Qualifications as established by the Tasmanian Industrial Commission in the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award 2005.

  • Current provisional registration granted by the Teachers Registration Board (Tasmania) in accordance with the provisions of the Teachers Registration Act 2000. 

  • The Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013 requires persons undertaking work in a regulated activity to be registered. A regulated activity is a child related service or activity defined in the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Regulations 2014. This registration must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of this may be checked at any time during employment.

  Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status - Employee/Volunteer).

RWVP is required for your TRB application. As the registration approval can take up to six weeks, it is important to apply as soon as possible via www.cbos.tas.gov.au.

Once you have obtained RWVP, you can then apply for provisional teacher registration through the Teacher Registration Board (TRB) of Tasmania.

The TRB allow for early registration in most cases and encourage you to apply at least 10 days prior to completing your final unit/professional experience so they can commence processing your application prior to receiving your unofficial record. See https://www.trb.tas.gov.au/early-registration/

If you are studying teaching at an Australian university and have successfully completed all the course requirements, but your formal graduation is over three months away, please email trb@trb.tas.gov.au to discuss your options.
