Job description:

As part of the Child Safety Service (CSS) leadership group, the Service Development Practice Advisor provides the Manager - Service Development with contemporary and well-informed practice advice and support and provides leadership in undertaking activities to enable the development of effective, efficient and child and family centred services, workforce management and project initiatives to enable best outcomes for children and young people. The Service Development Practice Advisor provides leadership to, and management of, Practice Leaders within the CSS as required.

Duties

As part of the Child Safety Service (CSS) leadership group, the Service Development Practice Advisor provides the Manager - Service Development with contemporary and well-informed practice advice and support and provides leadership in undertaking activities to enable the development of effective, efficient and child and family centred services, workforce management and project initiatives to enable best outcomes for children and young people.
The Service Development Practice Advisor provides leadership to, and management of, Practice Leaders within the CSS as required.

Period of Appointment

Permanent, ongoing

Applicants should be aware that for twelve (12) months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill any subsequent full-time or part-time vacancies in accordance with Employment Direction 1.

Hours per fortnight

76 hours per fortnight

Essential Requirements

  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment)
  • A tertiary qualification approved by the relevant National Board, for example a Bachelor of Social Work, and eligibility for membership with the relevant National Board or professional association; or
  • An alternative tertiary qualification (AQF Level 7 Qualification) in a discipline considered relevant to the duties, for example Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Psychology, Bachelor of Youth Work, Bachelor of Psychological Science; or
  • An Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (AQF Level 5 or 6 Qualification) in a discipline considered relevant to the duties, for example a Diploma in Community Services.
  • The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:  
  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
    1. crimes of violence
    2. sex related offences
    3. serious drug offences
    4. crimes involving dishonesty
    5. serious traffic offences
  2. Identification check
  3. Disciplinary actions in previous employment check

Desirable Requirements

  • Substantial experience in the delivery/management of human/family services.
  • Current Driver’s Licence
