Job description:

Provide practical and administrative support to all aspects of Ashley Youth Detention Centre’s (AYDC) planning and case management processes for young people in custody and in accordance with legislative and procedural provisions. Assist with the provision of integrated and coordinated services aimed at the reintegration of young people in detention back into the community. Assist in the development, establishment and maintenance of effective case management systems, processes, and procedures for young people in custody.

This is a Department built entirely for children and young people and their communities.  Our ultimate goal is to work together to ensure that every child and young person in Tasmania is known, safe, well and learning.

Duties

Provide practical and administrative support to all aspects of Ashley Youth Detention Centre’s (AYDC) planning and case management processes for young people in custody and in accordance with legislative and procedural provisions.
Assist with the provision of integrated and coordinated services aimed at the reintegration of young people in detention back into the community.
Assist in the development, establishment and maintenance of effective case management systems, processes, and procedures for young people in custody.

Period of Appointment

Permanent, Ongoing

Applicants should be aware that for twelve (12) months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill any subsequent full-time or part-time vacancies in accordance with Employment Direction 1.

Hours per fortnight

76 hours per fortnight

Essential Requirements

  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment)
  • Tertiary qualification/program of study accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and is a full member of AASW or is eligible for membership with the AASW.
  • The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
    1. crimes of violence
    2. sex related offences
    3. serious drug offences
    4. crimes involving dishonesty
    5. serious traffic offences
  2. Identification check
  3. Disciplinary actions in previous employment check
