About the Role

The court co-ordinator is based within Services for Children, Young People and Families provides holistic, community-based support for children, young people, and their families. This unit focuses on integrated service delivery across child safety, family support, community youth justice and youth services to ensure trauma-informed, child-centred care with relationships at the centre. The unit aims to deliver a continuum of care that upholds the rights, safety and wellbeing of children, young people and their families. This includes early intervention and support, assessment and safety planning, coordinated care planning and case management, family restoration, supporting children and young people in care and / or on guardianship or youth justice orders, to ensure that children, young people and their families receive the necessary support to be safe and thrive within their communities.

The role of the Court Co-ordinator is to coordinate processes and systems which support the Child Safety workforce regarding legal action undertaken by Child Safety staff. The role, in consultation with the Court Support Team, Manager – Statewide Programs and Services and Director – Youth and Community Services, will ensure that all legal aspects of Tasmania Child Safety practice conform to the requirements of the Children, Young Persons and Their Families Act 1997 and relevant Agency principles, practices and standards.

We are looking for

Essential

• Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) with a registration Status – Employment
• A tertiary qualification approved by the relevant National Board, for example a Bachelor of Social Work, and eligibility for membership with the relevant National Board or professional association; or
• An alternative tertiary qualification (AQF Level 7 Qualification) in a discipline considered relevant to the duties, for example Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Psychology, Bachelor of Youth Work, Bachelor of Psychological Science; or
• An Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (AQF Level 5 or 6 Qualification) in a discipline considered relevant to the duties, for example a Diploma in Community Services.
• The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1 Conviction checks in the following areas:

a) crimes of violence
b) sex related offences
c) serious drug offences
d) crimes involving dishonesty
e) serious traffic offences

2 Identification check
3 Disciplinary actions in previous employment check

Desirable

• Significant experience working in the field of child safety
• Experience working in a legal environment
• Current Driver’s Licence
