Job description:

Undertake consultancies in information technology in one or more of the following areas: • Technical support of ICT infrastructure including desktop PC equipment and associated information technology peripherals, networking equipment, servers and cloud services • Technical support of business applications software and development projects • Client liaison and support • Cybersecurity services including security risk assessments and investigations • Provision of supervision, mentoring, training, and leadership for other IT support staff • Assisting clients in skill development and identifying learning paths to build capability in use of information technology toolsets including Microsoft software, line of business and learning applications consultancy and planning.

What role does Information and Technology Services provide DECYP?

lnformation and Technology Services (ITS) deliver contemporary information communication technology (ICT) services focussed to the needs of our clients across a varied and dynamic environment. We provide frontline services and support across every part of Tasmania and our team of 150+ professionals reflect the clients we serve. What will I be doing as an IT Consultant in the Infrastructure team?

Your role will require you to:

  • Undertake or project manage consultancies associated with infrastructure and cloud services.
  • Undertake high level investigations related to information technology hardware and software including providing expert technical advice and support to senior ITS staff.
  • Actively promote DECYP cybersecurity policies and practices.
  • Develop relevant documentation and implement appropriate standards and procedures by ITS staff in servicing clients.
  • Undertake high level technical support including networking equipment, servers, and cloud services in technologies relevant to the Department

Period of Appointment

Ongoing - ASAP start date

Essential Requirements

  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment)

Desirable Requirements

  • Appropriate post-secondary qualification and/or industry experience relevant to the position. 
  • At least three years’ experience in the delivery of IT support and infrastructure services
  • A current driver’s licence.

What skills and experience will I need?

This role is based in the Infrastructure team and has a heavy network support and network design focus. You will have extensive experience managing large, centralised, and physically disperse Cisco networks, and experience with contemporary network management tools such as Cisco DNA Center, Cisco Umbrella, and enterprise IP address management.

You will have experience with contemporary cloud platforms such as Azure, and be familiar with the infrastructure requirements of legacy, on prem, Windows server environments and data centres.

You will be part of a larger Infrastructure support team, and will mentor, advise, and support a small team to ensure quality and timely provision of ICT services to the agency.
