The Team
Our Community Youth Justice teams work with young people to reduce offending through restorative, rehabilitative, and community-based programs. The team work together with the community, other service delivery agencies and the young people themselves. They encourage offenders to take responsibility for their offences, and where possible, divert them from the criminal justice system.
About the Role

As a Youth Justice Worker, you will work within a restorative justice framework to assess the risks, needs and circumstances of young people referred by police and the courts. You will deliver youth diversion initiatives, develop and implement case management plans, and manage a caseload of young people subject to legal orders. Working in accordance with the Youth Justice Act 1997, you will support rehabilitation, reduce reoffending, and help young people achieve positive outcomes.

Conditions of Employment
- Classification & Award: Allied Health Professional Level 1-2, Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Union Wages Agreement / Health and Human Services (Tasmanian State Service) Award
- Hours of Work: Temporary (24 months) full-time day work, 76 hours per fortnight, ASAP start
- Location: Hobart

Essential Requirements
To be eligible, you must have:
- Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) with a registration Status – Employment
- Current Driver's Licence
- Satisfactory completion of an approved Allied Health Professional tertiary qualification/program of study and registered with the relevant National Board or, in the case of self-regulated allied health professions, eligible for membership with the relevant professional association.
- The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
1 Conviction checks in the following areas:
a) crimes of violence
b) sex related offences
c) serious drug offences
d) crimes involving dishonesty
e) serious traffic offences
2 Identification check
3 Disciplinary actions in previous employment check
