The College of Veterinary Medicine, Mississippi State University, invites applications for a Clinical Instructor I in Veterinary Clinical Pathology. The is a professional (non-tenure track) position in the Diagnostic Laboratory Services (DLS) section in the Department of Pathobiology and Population Medicine. The DLS is a part of the AAVLD fully accredited Mississippi Veterinary Research and Diagnostic Laboratory System, which has laboratories at three sites in Mississippi.

Salary Grade:  UC

Veterinary Clinical Pathology

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Major responsibilities include clinical pathology service and teaching in the DVM program. It is expected that this position will allocate approximately 70% time to clinical service activities and 30% time to teaching and teaching associated service.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications include a DVM or equivalent with successful completion of Phase 1 of the ACVP board certification examination. Applicants must be enrolled (or have completed) a clinical pathology residency. Demonstrated collegiality and excellent communication skills are required. The ability to attain licensure (faculty or traditional licensure) in Mississippi is required. The successful candidate will work directly with faculty, in-house clinicians, and referring veterinarians in the DLS section.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent telephone and email communication skills, especially related to client service.
Must be capable of working in a team environment comprised of doctors, staff and students to provide veterinary care of patients and aid in the instruction of veterinary students and veterinary technology students.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
Job requires standing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
