Position Summary

Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, mentoring, evaluating and promotion of intramural sports officials and part-time (on-call) employees, including program assistants, student supervisors, student coordinators, and Spartan Greens complex staff;  assist with the scheduling and management of intramural sports contests, events, and tournaments; coordinate planning and evaluation of intramural sports official’s development program; including training clinics, on-field/court evaluations, and awards and recognition; prioritize tasks and delegate duties to student and part-time employees for pre and post event preparation for RSFS events; contribute to the development of goals and objectives for implementation across intramural sports program, including special events and tournaments; assist with administrative tasks, including data collection for the development of procedures, protocols, program manuals, risk management plans, and annual reports; ensure department risk management plan is implemented effectively in relation to participation and oversight of intramural sports programs and Spartan Greens; support student development through participation and travel to extramural events, meetings, conferences, and workshops; assist in managing the reservation and usage of Spartan Greens outdoor field complex, receiving and processing usage requests from different user groups to ensure accurate booking and equitable access to facilities consistent with RSFS and university guidelines; assist and collaborate with marketing and sponsorship/outreach professionals, including the ASG Communications Manager, for the successful implementation and promotion of new programming efforts and RSFS achievements; review matters relating to fees, budget, and fiscal responsibility.; assist with collaborative programming efforts with other RSFS areas when needed; serve on department, divisional, and/or University committees as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

 Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program in Business Administration, Parks & Recreation, Sports Management, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Health & Physical Education, or a related field; one to three years’ experience in intramural programming, staff supervision, collegiate recreation programs, parks and recreation, or related field; demonstrated sports officiating experience and/or current officiating certification(s); or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Parks & Recreation, Sports Management, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Health & Physical Education, or a related field; three to five years’ experience in intramural programming, staff supervision, collegiate recreation programs, parks and recreation, or related field; strong written and verbal skills to effectively communicate and build relationships with employees and guests; documented experience with planning, delegating, and supervising student employees; ability to determine the needs of facility and staff schedules to ensure safe facility operations; experience with scheduling events, programs, and activities; certified instructor for Adult CPR/AED and First Aid.
