Our Mission

The Mission of the Counseling and Wellness Center is to facilitate student success and psychological well-being through culturally sensitive clinical services, outreach, and consultation.  In keeping with the educational mission of the university, we also contribute to the mental health professions by serving as a training site for graduate students in psychology and counseling.  We support the professional development of our staff and strive to embody the wellness we promote within the campus community.

About the Position Under the direction and supervision of the Director of the Counseling and Wellness Center, this position serves as the primary coordinator of research, program evaluation, and digital training. This position is responsible for performing outcome analyses for clinical services, evaluating outreach and health promotion programming, and maintaining accurate data on Counseling and Wellness Center operations. This position also facilitates all activities and functions necessary to plan, implement, and evaluate the web-based sexual violence awareness and prevention training required for all new, matriculated students to Western and designated groups of ongoing students. This position independently advises all students training participants, staff, faculty, parents, and the public regarding training content, policies, procedures, and the requirement.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum of two years of related experience in public health, behavioral health, or related fields or equivalent education/experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to support a workplace culture in which diversity is honored, respected and celebrated
  • Two years related program evaluation and/or research work experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the ACHA Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education (SPHPHE)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the CAS Professional Standards for Higher Education: Health Promotion Services
  • Demonstrated knowledge to conceptualize health promotion in the context of higher education
  • Experience in public health or behavioral health program and service design
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-informed health promotion programs/initiatives
  • Evidence of ability to provide leadership and problem-solving skills in analyzing health promotion needs of emerging adults, especially college students
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team and independently
  • Strong customer service skills, including demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Demonstrated high level of accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail
  • Ability to determine priorities, be self-directed and work with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure on multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of personal information
  • Demonstrated competency with Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s or doctoral degree in Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion, Health Policy, Social Work, Community Health, Community Psychology, or related field is preferred. Master’s or doctoral degrees in other fields may be considered with evidence of sufficient university-level coursework and/or professional continuing education or experience in the areas listed above
  • Experience working with health promotion work in a higher education environment
  • Experience working in a university setting
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Experience writing and managing local, state, or federal grants
  • Demonstrated competency using Qualtrics

Salary 

$3,802 - $5,086/month depending on qualifications and experience.
