About the Position This position will function in both the contracts/procurement functions within Business Services. They will actively participate and provide contract evaluation and negotiation efforts, work with vendors to establish agreements on terms and conditions, determine reasonable price expectations, and obtain appropriate approval and signatures. This role will also provide procurement services including conducting competitive bid projects, sourcing efforts and some management of the University’s Marketplace and e-procurement.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or similar from an accredited institution of higher education OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in purchasing and or / contract negotiating
  • Demonstrated contract and negotiation skills
  • Two (2) years’ experience in Contract compliance, writing and administration.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a diverse environment
  • Proficient with usual business computer applications- MS office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3) years’ experience in negotiating, administering or terminating government contracts, contract property management, contract cost or price analyses or contract compliance administration.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in a high volume, business environment.
  • Advanced Contract and negotiation skills.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in working within a site operated institution of higher education
  • Two (years) working with procurement systems and processes.
  • Experience with Washington State and federal grant procurement requirements and guidelines.
  • Hold a current certified purchasing manager (CPM) certificate or equivalent, or is working toward gaining one.

Salary $4,834 - $6,511/month depending on qualifications and experience

Bargaining Unit This position is part of bargaining unit PTE and is covered by the collective bargaining agreement with Public School Employees of WWU.
