Tuesday through Saturday and varies depending on program and center needs. Occasional weekend, evening, and holiday work as required.

Job Summary:
The Education Program Associate is responsible for the development, implementation and administration of science-based environmental educational and conservation programs through the JSU Strategic Partnerships and Special Projects and Field Schools. All activities are through primary coordination with Director and Assistant Director as well as through additional coordination with partners including agencies, schools, groups and individuals. Incumbent will use independent judgment and discretion in program development and departmental administration. Work is periodically reviewed for adherence to department/division goals and effectiveness of results. Reports to the Assistant Director of JSU Field Schools.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Researches, develops and implements curriculum, program parameters, program details, and related activities.
- Develops Educational programs for the Canyon Center, Mountain Center and Field Schools.
- Coordinates educational activities associated with NASA, Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, Alabama State Parks and other JSU partners as assigned.
- Presents day, night, and weekend programs, after school activities, workshops and summer camps designed to meet the needs of a variety of age groups and interest levels.
- Provides walking guided tours for a distance of up to five miles and disseminates information to customers as needed.
- Keeps records for all programs, documenting training, surveys, and other data to document activities and productivity.
- Assists with marketing program drafting press releases, posters, banners, social media posts, monthly newsletter, etc.
- Develops volunteer support for current and future programs.
- Performs room set-ups, occasional cleaning, and moderate lifting.
- Assist in care of educational animals.
- Assist in maintenance of educational Path to Learning and educational supplies.
- Provides front desk interpretation as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with Science background and three years of classroom teaching or informal science education experience
- Interest in outdoor educational activity
- Extensive public speaking experience
- Ability to work nights and weekends as programs require
- Desire to work with a diverse population of students
|
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field of Science, emphasis on Natural History
|
