Overview:
The position is responsible for greeting guests as they arrive at the Island Sports Center (ISC). Must have strong organizational and communication skills and be able to perform all other duties associated with guest service support.
As a member of our Guest Services Team, you will be the ISC’s first point of contact for all programs at the Island. You will greet customers with a warm welcome, enroll customers into programs, and assist program directors with special requests. You will learn great communication skills, customer relations, answering phone inquiries, and cash control measures working the cash register for our public skates and other programs. You will also maintain guest information in our customer database, prepare sign-in sheets, and provide information to guests on programming through use of brochures and our website.

-Parkhurst operates our Bistro here at the ISC. Employees get a 10% discount. Unfortunately, the Bistro is no longer part of the meal plan though.
-The pro shop discount is 20%. There are also sales throughout the year where the discount increases to 30% or more.
-Mini golf, driving range, public skate and stick time are all free to employees. Some programming is free depending on whether the class is full or not.
SET/ Academic Internship Credit: Students wanting to receive Academic Internship credit for the position worked will need to fill out the paperwork with the Career and Professional Development Center. Academic internships can be added to a student’s SET upon request after grades are posted (send an email to set@rmu.edu). If a student attempts to submit an internship electronically, it will be declined. If an internship is not listed on the student's SET by the end of the first month of the following academic term in which the internship was completed, please email set@rmu.edu.
Students who complete a non-academic internship will need to have their supervisor complete the Employer Verification Form and submit it to set@rmu.edu. If approved, the experience will be added to their SET.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for greeting guests as they arrive to the center and attending to their needs and ensuring all services are paid. Checks in user groups and organizes parties.
Responsible for answering telephones, taking messages, checking voicemail and transferring calls.
Responsible for enrolling customers in Sports Center programs and editing enrollments as necessary.
Performs opening, closing and balancing of the register.
Maintains guest information in the Sports Center database. Prepares sign-in sheets, copies and flyers. Responsible for sending faxes, sorting mail and waivers, folding brochures, cleaning the desk area and maintaining adequate supplies.
All other duties as assigned by the Guest Service Manager and Supervisor and Island Sports Center Chief Executive Officer. This is a part-time position not eligible for University benefits. Work hours are limited to 950 per calendar year and less than 20 hours per week on a regular basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Two years of customer service experience preferred.
Excellent communication skills.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to work in busy environments and with different people.
