Overview:
This position will give the student an opportunity to experience general ledger accounting from all aspects of a month end close (uploading journal entries, account reconciliations, producing and reviewing financial statements).
Responsibilities:
The controller’s group student worker will be responsible for assisting in the monthly general ledger close process. This includes creating and uploading journal entries into RMU’s financial system, Unit 4. The student worker should possess general accounting knowledge as well as a basic understanding of Microsoft Excel. He/She will utilize Unit 4 to run various account analysis reports to assist with monthly account reconciliations and other ad hoc requests. The student worker will be assigned various balance sheet accounts that he/she will be responsible to reconcile and determine if there are any errors within the account activity and how to correct differences. This position will give the student an opportunity to experience general ledger accounting beginning with the month end close process and ending in the generation of monthly financial statements. Students have earned internship credits in the past with this position but that is incumbent on the student to speak with their academic advisor to determine the qualifications and do the necessary administrative requirements to obtain those credits.
Minimum Qualifications:
-At least a 3.0 GPA -Accounting or Finance Major Preferred -Experience with Microsoft Excel -Underclassmen preferred
Should be able to work over the summer.
