Overview:
The Academic Media Center is looking for creative and motivated candidates to gain hands-on experience in broadcast and streaming media production, graphics, programming, engineering, and studio operations. Productions include the opportunity to participate in both student media and campus event coverage, but also faculty research, narrative and documentary production, These positions will prepare students for creative and technical careers in television and film, virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR), as well as live events production for sports and entertainment.
Responsibilities:
Studio Technicians (STs) oversee all upkeep and maintenance of the AMC studio and control room, serve as master control for RMU-TV shows, ensure that all live shows are broadcast/streamed online, and that all recorded shows are delivered in a timely manner across all distribution platforms. The STs work together to troubleshoot technology and communicate fault/error reports to the AMC Staff Engineer following all productions, and regularly monitor all RMU-TV distribution platforms for quality control. The STs oversee the setup and tear-down of the main studio before and after all productions, instructional use, or event bookings. STs are familiar with the AMC Student Media Handbook, upholding RMU and department policies to ensure access to experiential media learning for all members of the RMU community. All paid AMC student personnel must work at least five hours on designated non-show AMC projects or outside productions per semester and attend at least one AMC skills development workshop. One hour a month will be reserved for required staff meetings. Training programs and special projects will be assigned as necessary. Student colleagues will be responsible for covering the hours they have agreed to work.
Minimum Qualifications:
All majors are welcome. Prior participation in RMU TV across a variety of positions and roles is strongly encouraged. Successful candidates will have strong organizational and time management skills, the ability to communicate and collaborate with a wide variety of people, to problem solve, and work within deadlines.
