Overview:
The Robert Morris University department of athletics seeks a one-semester business operations intern to assist in budget preparation, finance and accounting. Projects will involve preparing team travel and budget worksheets, reviewing composite schedules, preparing hotel and bus bid documents, paying invoices and supporting the game contract process. The department of athletics will provide on-the-job training and applicants should possess an interest in pursuing a career in intercollegiate athletics.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for preparing, distributing, and tracking event contracts for 15 varsity sport programs. Assist with the planning, development and execution of a comprehensive budget plan specific to team travel and scheduling. Assist with creating and updating budget worksheets, hotel and bus bids and game contracts. Research and identify hotels that meet department expectations when traveling to new locations. Benchmark travel practices with other NCAA DI peers. Support travel coordinators support for current year's travel. Assist with creating expense reports from University procurement and purchasing accounts. Assist with day-to-day activities involved with processing business documents such as: Clerical support, Data entry, Accounting & Research. Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President and Director of Athletics.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required: Proficiency with personal computer applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint); outstanding communication skills; ability to follow direction and to manage multiple projects simultaneously; detail-oriented; flexibility to intersperse simple tasks with important administrative responsibilities; confidentiality Preferred: Pursuing a bachelor's degree from the RMU School of Business (Finance, Accounting, Sport Management
