Overview:
The Office of Residence Life is recruiting a graduate assistant (GA) to serve as a program assistant. The GA will live in an on-campus apartment to serve as a resource for residential students. Serving in the on-call duty rotation for residence life. GA will also work closely with residence life staff and community advisors (CAs) to develop an environment in the residence hall community that is conducive to academic success, intellectual growth, and social development. Additionally, this position provides an opportunity for building skills in leadership, student engagement, and community outreach. The ideal candidate needs to be a collaborative, student‐oriented, and reliable individual.
Extensive training will be provided prior to beginning work. Successful candidate will be on contract through the end of the 2024-2025 academic year and may be able to continue in their position following an annual performance review, as long as they are still enrolled in a graduate program at RMU.

Responsibilities:
Program Assistant Duties (20 hours per week) ● Supervise an area Community Advisor (CA) staff of approximately 4 students ● Assist with the planning and implementation of weekly area meetings with CA staff ● Hold individual meetings with area CA staff to discuss individual progress and development, and to provide CAs with the opportunity to exchange views about the residence life program, as needed ● Attend weekly residence life professional staff meetings ● Submit requested reports to the Office of Residence Life and other university offices as necessary and appropriate ● Assist in campus-wide implementation of programming initiatives ● Identify and develop collaborative, working relationships with faculty, campus partners, and community stakeholders in development of the communities you work with ● Know residents in one’s area, maintain all records essential to working with residents, and provide appropriate communication pertaining to residents ● Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications ● Currently enrolled in a graduate program at Robert Morris University ● Evening, overnight shift, and weekend work required ● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills ● Strong organizational, administrative, customer service, and leadership skills, including the ability to receive and delegate tasks; ability to work independently and as part of a team ● Demonstrated understanding of unique needs of diverse student populations and an ability to respond in culturally sensitive ways ● Be in good academic, financial, and disciplinary standing with the university prior to and throughout employment ● Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Preferred Qualifications ● Currently enrolled in a graduate program ● Experience working in residence life
