Position Department: Academic Media Center
Overview:
Have you ever wanted to make your own TV show? The AMC is looking for creative student leaders to develop and execute shows for the university’s award-winning, student-run TV station. An Associate Producer (AP) is integral to production for every show on RMU-TV: from news - RMU Live and RMU Focus - to Sports Talk in the Burgh and RMU Tonight, or even your own idea for a brand new show! Under the leadership of a student Producer, the AP works with a crew, staff, and industry mentors to write content, perform on the air, review and edit the show, delivering original content to audiences on and off campus.
Responsibilities:
An Associate Producer (AP) works with their Producer to aggregate and write content for their show, builds a run down, and may perform on the air or fill other production roles as required. The AP also manages the crew log and sign in sheet. After the show, the AP assists the Producer and Staff Mentors with post-show review, and helps edit highlights for web-distribution or awards consideration. An AP must be familiar with the AMC Student Media Handbook, upholding RMU and department policies to ensure access to experiential media learning for all members of the RMU community. All paid AMC student personnel must work at least five hours on designated non-show AMC projects or outside productions per semester and attend at least one AMC skills development workshop. One hour a month will be reserved for required staff meetings. Training programs and special projects will be assigned as necessary. Student colleagues will be responsible for covering the hours they have agreed to work.
Minimum Qualifications:
All majors are welcome. Prior participation in a volunteer role on an RMU TV show is strongly encouraged. Successful candidates will possess strong organizational and time management skills, the ability to communicate and collaborate with a wide variety of people, to problem solve, and work within deadlines.
