Overview:
The RMU-Radio General Manager is the student worker responsible for the day-to-day operations of RMU-Radio, engaging with all Academic Media Center (AMC) student, staff, and faculty stakeholders to provide access to this vital community resource. Working closely with the RMU Radio Graduate Assistant, the Radio Club, RMU TV and Sentry Media, as well as the staff Radio and Television Engineer, the General Manager is responsible for program scheduling, host training, and radio events, as well as representing RMU Radio to the campus and wider student media communities.
Responsibilities:
• Schedules and maintain an accurate record of RMU Radio's Live programming and podcasts. • Keeps a record of radio show sign ups • Works with the staff Radio and Television Engineer to train radio crew members and producers (student, staff and faculty) on the use of RMU Radio's equipment and policies. • Coordinates with Radio Club officers to support regular club meetings, attending all meetings on behalf of the AMC • Works with the Radio Graduate Assistant to represent RMU-Radio to the campus community. • Assists radio hosts, producers, and AMC staff with the selection and submission of student work for school, regional, and national awards. • Coordinates student, staff, and faculty staff participation in RMU-Radio Remote Broadcasts. • Be familiar with the AMC Student Media Handbook, upholding RMU and department policies to ensure access to experiential media learning for all members of the RMU community. All paid AMC student personnel must work at least five hours on designated non-show AMC projects or outside productions per semester and attend at least one AMC skills development workshop. One hour a month will be reserved for required staff meetings. Training programs and special projects will be assigned as necessary. Student colleagues will be responsible for covering the hours they have agreed to work.
Minimum Qualifications:
• All majors are welcome, regardless of prior experience in radio. Active membership (before and during the work-study) in Radio Club is strongly encouraged. • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Ability to communicate and collaborate with a wide variety of people. • Ability to problem solve and work within deadlines.
