Overview

Intramural Officials are responsible for officiating and overseeing intramural sports contests while maintaining a safe, fair, and inclusive playing environment. Officials will rotate between on-field officiating and scorekeeping duties across a variety of sports leagues, ensuring that rules are enforced consistently and sportsmanship is upheld.

Responsibilities
  • Provide complete game control of all assigned intramural contests

  • Arrive on time and fully prepared for all scheduled shifts

  • Officiate games with honesty, integrity, and professionalism

  • Maintain control of players and spectators during competitions

  • Enforce intramural rules and evaluate sportsmanship

  • Ensure participant safety by inspecting playing areas before each contest

  • Keep accurate game records, update score sheets, and track individual stats

  • Communicate schedule or rule changes to participants when necessary

  • Rotate between roles as an on-field official and scorekeeper

  • Report game results, statistics, and accident reports to the Intramural Manager

  • Handle on-site disputes and clarify rule interpretations when needed

  • Ensure proper use and care of university-issued equipment

  • Represent Campus Recreation in a professional and positive manner

  • Attend all initial and ongoing training sessions throughout the year

Minimum Qualifications
  • The student is currently enrolled full-time at RMU

  • Official must commit to working a minimum of 5-8 hours per week

  •  Previous paid experience as an official is preferred

  • American Red Cross First Aid / CPR / AED certifications are highly preferred
