Director of Title IX

Overview:
This position, reporting to the Vice President of People and Culture, is responsible for (a) conducting intake and other meetings with individuals who bring a complaint or other information to the Title IX Office (b) engaging in case management (c) the smooth and effective functioning of the Title IX Office, including ensuring that the tracking, calendaring and administrative tasks for the Title IX Office are completed; and (d) investigating Title IX, student equity, and other student complaints. The Title IX Director will also serve as the educational liaison to create, lead, coordinate, grow, strengthen, assess and evaluate RMU’s Title IX- and student equity related educational activities. Priority initiatives include (but are not limited to) RMU’s Title IX and student equity compliance related efforts and its program related research, assessment and evaluation efforts.
Responsibilities:
  • Case Management: Perform all tasks related to RMU’s Title IX compliance and education efforts, including case intake and administration, assistance with updates and initiatives. Assist in efforts related to Title IX and student equity investigations, activities, training and reports as necessary. Maintain case tracking of Title IX cases.
  • General Office Administration: Assist in Title IX office budget and expense reporting. Coordination of meetings and events. Answer emails, telephones, take messages and schedule appointments for the Title IX Office. Assist in securing hearing officers and appellate officers for Title IX matters. Monitor/maintain Title IX email and voice mail.
  • Education and Outreach: Lead Title IX-related/student equity training and programs focused on the University community. Lead activities related to the design, maintenance and updates for the Title IX website and other support software.
  • Research and Analysis: Support the university with research and analysis regarding the state of Title IX compliance at RMU. Support the university with research and analysis regarding patterns of conflict and sources of recurring conflict, and make recommendations regarding policy changes to redress such issues.
  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends as required. Ability to travel domestically for short periods.
  • Performs other duties as assigned related to Title IX, student equity, and/or Human Resources.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree required.
  • Two years of prior experience in Title IX, compliance, or equity related work; experience in the higher education field preferred. Adequate and ongoing knowledge of the theory, background, current practice and latest developments in Title IX required.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Capability to multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines; maintaining composure in a fast-paced and emotionally demanding environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality and composure in difficult situations.
  • Excellent technology skills and experience with student information systems.
  • Formal training and/or certifications in Title IX preferred, but not required. If the successful candidate does not have formal training/certifications, the university will provide access to appropriate training.
